Blair understood our enemies - why don't we? It's 25 years next week since the Chicago Speech. There's a lot in it that is still relevant. (My latest column for The Times and The Sunday Times) thetimes.co.uk/article/c5f717…

Anduril is doing unbelievable things.

As we are stuck debating whether we spend 2.5% of GDP, others are moving ahead with building new technological capabilities that will redefine defence

Couldn't agree more. Targets are a) wishful thinking and b) and actually lead to short term cuts in carbon emissions that make longer term decarbonisation more difficult. We need a systems-thinking approach to decarbonisation that goes deeper than near-term targets.

They can also be huge instruments of soft power. Building and launching an AI tutor could be the modern day equivalent of the BBC World Service or British Council

Great article from Andrew Dunn about AI in biotech.

@ginkgo is opening up our platform to help!

Lab Data as a Service = RLHF (ie reinforcement learning you want in biotech is lab data)

DNA database = Common Crawl (ie billions of DNA “sentences” for unsupervised learning)
