Always thinking about music, always got a song stuck in my head. I post stuff so I can talk about it with fellow music geeks.

Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna

A barnstorming version of my favourite song from my all-time favourite album. Ploughing forwards, and spiralling downwards, with wave after wave of images.

An unstoppable track.

“This is an old song, I like all my old songs, I don’t know who said I didn’t, but this is an old song, this is called I Don’t Believe You, it used to be like that but now it goes like this. The Times They Are A Changin’ influenced this song”

I love how in this show there’s moments Steve Coogan tries to act all pretentious and intellectual, but Brydon just wants to get into impressions all the time 🤣🤣 And then Coogan just can’t resist doing them as well

After watching this you can’t help but notice that Richard Gere does do this exact thing in pretty much every film he is in 🤣👍. And Rob Brydon’s “woah! I’m not your bloody father” cracks me up 🤣

Who’s playing that Rickenbacker bass that once you hear it becomes the focal point for the whole song? Why, it’s only our Paul, throwing out great basslines as per. They didn’t even write this one together and Macca still goes “give me that bass” love it youtu.be/MjFfdp3922k?si…

My favourite Dylan cover. Taking the ramshackle, homespun beauty of the original and reimagining it as a ghostly hymn that not only sounds like a New Orleans funeral march but feels like one too. Sad, lonesome, but strangely uplifting.

“I’m in the foxhole, I’m down in the trench, I’d be a hero but I can’t stand the stench”

Swapping the original’s languid, skeletal rhythm for something more frantic and down right jittery, EC and The Attractions destroy the Pinkpop festival

Is it a real album? We all know the answer. Let’s just say it’s a fantastic collection of Beatles songs and their trippiest moment of 67. What’s interesting is the darker turn things take on the MMT songs, as the real world, and Brian’s death, seep into their acid fried brains.
