The idea that development can be catalyzed or initiated by “development commissions” is antiquated and reeks of a national desperation to create more state apparatuses to distribute and re-allocate rents as well as maintain patronage networks on behalf of the governing elite.

The Zungeru HEP has added at least 500 megawatts to the national grid meaning we now do 4,199 megawatts per hour in average hourly generation per grid data from NERC. For context, 90% of SMEs depend on self generation for their electricity needs: 42,000 megawatts of electricity.

I’d rather Akwa Ibom State Govt invests its FAAC wealth on viable gas projects with long ROE lifecycles domiciled on waters that the state claims than on phantom real estate in Lagos. Delta State taking in 8% equity in a project that will produce 1.5 million tonnes yearly is a shrewd coup.

All my thoughts and prayers and with those affected by the devastating once-in-a-century flooding in Maiduguri. My heart aches as I watch the imagery from Maiduguri, and I call friends and acquaintances affected by the disaster. Allah SWT ya kawo sauki wa mutanan Borno 🤲🏼❤️

Nigeria’s policymaking process now involves a policy track for rice distribution all thanks to the All Progressives Congress (APC). I will never forgive 2015, it is cursed in my memory forever.
