BREAKING: Citi’s investors demand the bank protect Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

Today, 26% of investors voted for Ask Citi to reveal the effectiveness of its Indigenous Rights policies.

Even investors know that oil and gas extraction on Indigenous lands is a bad investment.

CEO of Citi just told shareholders: 'we have engaged periodically with Indigenous leaders'.
But the bank did not consult Indigenous leaders when it wrote a report about them, and it does not consult when it funds companies violating their rights

Vast majority of questions at the Citi AGM are about sustainable finance & climate. CEO Jane Fraser is giving scripted answers not addressing them. The board haven't even bother to put their faces on camera. This is what shareholder democracy at US banks looks like right now:
