I don't how many more nails need to be banged into the coffin of the Australian cultural cringe - Australia's cultural clout is fare more significant, and has been for decades - but here is yet another one........

Thoughtful and incisive, as always. In 💥Dr💥 Julia Baird's column today, analysing the persistence of rape myths, she also detailed a paper published this week by myself and Michael Salter, called 'Rethinking Primary Prevention'. You can read that here: jesshill.substack.com/p/rethinking-p…

Some gross rape myths were aired this week after the Lehrmann decision. The good news is these myths are eroding. The bad news is, they are doing so very slowly – and this is not doing enough to prevent sexual assault. Now what?

Why have people started saying that something is 'based off' something else. Shouldn't it be 'based on'? Hasn't it always been 'based on'? What is happening with the world? Who agreed to this? Why wasn't I given advance warning so I could lodge an objection?

All those in the media who boosted 's account -- and they know who they are -- must be dying of shame. Justice Lee has absolutely shredded his character and his evidence, caling it 'risible', 'an elaborate fancy' and 'a litany of lies'.

Dear ABC Australia could you please make sure that old PM interviews are made available in the archives, so his audience and researchers and young journos can hear them and learn from them. We will all be very grateful.

A cruel culture war spurred an unprecedented savaging of a rape victim in Australia. Wrote this for ABC News abc.net.au/news/2024-04-1…

Omnishambles first used in BBC political satire The Thick of It in 2009. It refers to a situation seen as shambolic from all possible perspectives. In 2012 'omnishambles' was Oxford English Dictionary Word of the Year and now Justice Lee has popularised it via trial.

Hard day for a lot of people today, for a lot of different reasons. You’re loved, you’re believed and you can never be the perfect victim, because such a thing doesn’t ever exist.

We can’t forget that in order to get here we watched our legal system tear apart a real person. Family, friends, love life, spelling errors, diaries, texts, photos, mistakes. It was all laid bare for us to judge and pick apart.
Is this what justice looks like to you?

Probably a good time to reflect on how devotedly and brutally mastheads and prominent commentators seek to undermine, discredit and destroy women who allege sexual assault, or report on sexual assault. There's been a lot of bullying masquerading as journalism; it infects.

has been totally smashed. He was indifferent to Brittany Higgins' consent and just went ahead willy-nilly as he was so intent on his own gratification. 'He did not care one way or another' about her consent, said Justice Lee.
