Or worse - people have lost eyes and even their lives from these projectiles. I don’t think it’s hyperbolical to say that we are not yet fully grasping the enormity of what is transpiring across the country.

I have trespassed in peaceful protest.
I have shutdown govt offices in civil disobedience.
I have made the powerful uncomfortable in their routines as I’ve dissented in peaceful but committed disorder.
Those are the American traditions of Thomas Paine, David Thoreau, Rosa Parks

Fascinating how people have an issue with masked protestors but not masked police officers unleashing rounds of rubber bullets at unarmed nonviolent protestors.

Hanover is a little town at the edge of the White Mountains. 90 arrests in a single night is insane. The presidents and boards of trustees at these universities are having a full-blown meltdown.

I found this video unintentionally hilarious but at the same time chilling.

The funny part is the command room acting like they are planning D-Day when they are actually just sending ludicrous numbers of armed officers to arrest nonviolent students.

I've written on political dissent & violent policing for 15 years, particularly in NYC. Compared to Tuesday night, I have never witnessed, at the scene of a protest, the use of police power so disproportionate to the type of demonstration taking place. theintercept.com/2024/05/01/nyc…

Now that Hamilton Hall has been cleared, Columbia students can go to class and learn about the glories of liberalism.

Columbia student radio WKCR reporting that Columbia’s President Shafik didn’t directly communicate with students before sending in NYPD…she just cc’ed them on her invitation to NYPD Chief to come take over campus. Abject failure and collapse of an institution.

It is media malpractice to report on these campus protests without clearly delineating why these students are taking a stand at real personal risk. For example, the student activists are opposing US funding for a war that has killed more than 14,000 children.
