Lightning now kills more people than floods in Bangladesh. 11 people died and 9 were injured in a single day this month. People in Bangladesh are 30 times more likely to be killed by lightning than people in the US. Lots of factors, climate change exacerbating them all.

Horrifying news. The Sundarbans, the world’s biggest mangrove forest, is on fire. Firefighters and local communities trying their hardest to douse flames, but another heatwave announced for next 48 hours. This forest is world heritage. This news should shock us all into action.

What's it like to live - and teach - in Bangladesh during the country's longest heatwave? Selina Parvin, a BRAC teacher, shared her experiences on the BBC this week. Listen to the whole segment or skip straight to 37:56m. A harrowing listen.

Some news from today's newspaper. A glimpse of how heatwave is getting the whole country in soup very quickly.

The heatwave continues. Another 3-day warning issued. Its been almost a month - the longest on record in Bangladesh. In addition to heatstroke deaths and school closures, we're seeing highways melting, a power station on fire, over a million chickens dead - even tea plants dying.

The UAE was hit by unprecedented floods recently while Bangladesh is searing under an unprecedented heatwave.

The climate crisis can’t be ignored any longer. So, what's ahead, what are we doing and what urgently needs to change?

Mr. Netanyahu, antisemitism is a vile and disgusting form of bigotry that has done unspeakable harm to millions.

Do not insult the intelligence of the American people by attempting to distract us from the immoral and illegal war policies of your extremist and racist government.

A moving tribute to BRAC founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, who would have been 88 today. Fittingly, I'm heading to a carnival celebrating young changemakers across Bangladesh - he would have loved it. He firmly believed in investing in youth.
