The other night
Missed the northern lights
Watching tv
Not much to see
So last night I
Stared up at the sky
Not much to see anyway
Missed Match of The Day
Caught both online
Fine
But I’d rather see the lights for real
And my rationale is
I just want to rhyme
Aurora borealis

STARTLED

Out of the blue
A scamper of pale brown
Fawn even
And there you were

Stopped for a second
Looked over
Then off through the trees
Gone

Startled
We both were

LIMERICK POLITICS 2

Maybe it’s time to reflect
On those who choose to defect
From a ship that is sinking
It’s worth careful thinking
Be wary the rats you accept

LIMERICK POLITICS 1

Tread carefully now Mister Starmer
In your effort to be such a charmer
Referring to Thatcher
Could come back to catch you
And bite you so look out for karma

2 VERSES FROM YESTERDAY

Friends
Beer
Poetry
Laughter
Applause
Appreciation
Thankyou

He may have captained The Titanic
Been in Lord of The Rings
Mister Shirley Valentine
And many more
But for most of us he was Yosser
The boy from the blackstuff
Acting
He could do that

IT’S ALL RELATIVE

Some say that it’s not Labour
Just the Tories in disguise

But even at their very worst
They’re better than the Tory lies

They may not be the radical
Alternative ideal

But they are an alternative
That’s practical and real

BORIS JOHNSON TURNED AWAY FROM POLLING STATION AFTER FORGETTING ID

Imagine passing a law
Then thinking it doesn’t apply to you

Imagine the arrogance of that
Imagine being a Tory

ON REFLECTION

It wasn’t just the couple
Who said “I do” for the first time

It was all the others
Who had already said so

All here together
Reliving our own special days

A room full of friends
A room full of blessing

A room full of laughter
A room full of love

RAIN WILL NOT SPOIL THE DAY

It may affect the photographs
But cannot spoil the day
Too much sunshine elsewhere
From friends and family
The light of the two
Will shine enough for all of us
The memory of rain will fade
But this day remains forever
Rain will not spoil this day

PROBLEM

The problem
With writing a new poem
Every single day
Is not what to write about
But more
That each poem will only be
Read once
On that day
As there will be another
Today
Etc
So
This is a poem you needn’t
Bother with
Scroll back
And re-read some of
The better ones
