Economic Growth is problematic because it adds to climate crises and the consumption of finite resources. Furthermore, climate crisis creates huge economic and social turbulence. So it is not just ecological common sense to consider degrowth/steady state- it is a growing reality

No matter where you sit on Scottish political spectrum, I don't this sort of ignorant waffle and dim-witted commentary does Scottish or UK political debate any favours.

Prices of foodstuffs in Uk will continue to grow as climate change deepens in intensity. Food poverty and insecurity will rise. Sadly there is little uk political debate about this, including the impact on inflation/wider economic stewardship.

52 years ago, trade unionist Jimmy Reid stood up up at Glasgow University, having been elected by the students as their new rector.

The speech he delivered - hailed by the New York Times as the finest since the 'Gettysburg Address' - is as profound now as it was then.

New Policy Paper

Successive Scottish Governments have championed Scotland as a place to attract 'foreign direct investment'. Such investment demands a return of profit extraction. Over £¼ trillion has been extracted from Scotland since devolution.

The term 'community wealth' and ' ' is increasingly being used in many places across the world. Including USA, Canada, Scotland and South Korea. Reflecting real policy and practical action. Sadly the term seems to be now less common in England.

When a politician uses the term ' ' they are invoking the election slogan of Boris Johnson. Which was a lie, had little substance and has no credibility.

as a term is an election slogan smoke screen. Increasingly toxic. Those that use it are buying into a lie. Serious policy and intent to rebalance UK economy would see politicians pursuing 'economic justice' with (pre)redistribution of wealth, investment, opportunity

Uk political ambition is a big problem for the country. The choices are delusional- often harking back to previous times. It is silly and dangerous. This aint 50's or noughties, our world faces unprecedented crisis and challenges. Some UK political parties are avoiding reality.

The evidence in is stacking up to indicate there was an intentional policy of serial deceit within PO over a number of years. Government Ministers responsible for PO also need to come into frame. It was under their watch.

is a failure. No surprise. What is shocking are the commentators, academics and think tanks who took LU seriously. There was never ever any prospect that an election slogan and some regeneration monies was going to rebalance UK economy.
