Using Arabidopsis, Kirill Sukhoverkov screened 24 #herbicide MoAs against each other (276 combinations) and found 2 reliable synergies + 3 new ones; 2 of the new ones worked vs lettuce too. All three new combinations included a bleaching herbicide. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…
Many from my lab will be there will bells on! See you down there Perth Protein Group people! 🥳🍻😋
Thanks Hudson Takano for spotting this just out. A paper that injects some rigour into the statistics that will distinguish additivity from synergy and antagonism.
So excited for (and envious of) Kirill Sukhoverkov who's been offered a 5-yr post-doc contract (yes 5!). Can't publicly say where, but let's say he could be in the obese feline banging back a clergyman's goodbye by a time it's safe to cast a clout. Defends his thesis soon! 😉
Out today in Pest Manag. Sci., the early-release version of a perspective led by Joel Haywood and with Grishma Vadlamani and Keith Stubbs Molecular Sci-UWA "Antibiotic resistance lessons for the herbicide resistance crisis" #AMR #Superweeds doi.org/10.1002/ps.6357
Next Tuesday we mark the end of an era! Samuel Nonis and Kirill Sukhoverkov will both give PhD swan songs (completion seminars) on Tuesday, 27 April 1pm in Bayliss G.33 If anyone wants to watch by Zoom, DM me for the link ... I'll be logging in from CCDM Curtin University
The PhD completion talk Tuesday, 27 April 1pm in Bayliss G.33 Molecular Sci-UWA by Kirill Sukhoverkov is entitled: "Predicting #herbicides from physico-chemical parameters" featuring work published in RSC Advances
This collaboration just out on bioRxiv Plant Bio, led by Michael Wallace of the @KStubbs lab Molecular Sci-UWA with AWDS and Kirill Sukhoverkov Plant Energy Biology "Herbicidal activity of fluoroquinolone derivatives", which target chloroplast DNA gyrase. doi.org/10.1101/2021.0…
An online early version is out today at Pest. Manag. Sci. The work by Kirill Sukhoverkov Molecular Sci-UWA and Plant Energy Biology used rigorous statistics to discover new and real herbicide synergies. Also it's a real rarity nowadays in biology: a 2-author paper! 🌱🍾😄 doi.org/10.1002/ps.6533
The tree-friendly version of work by Kirill Sukhoverkov using solid statistics and #Arabidopsis to find new, true and rare herbicide synergies is out today in Pest Manag. Sci. Available via doi.org/10.1002/ps.6533
I did my PhD under supervision of Joshua Mylne and would highly recommend his lab to everyone who wants to become a multidisciplinary researcher and seeks for broad publication opportunities and excellent supervision!
I would like to thank Louise Thatcher, Andy Truman and chairman Charlie Bond for making our PhD viva feeling like a productive scientific discussion, not like an exam! I am glad you were my examinators and chair!
Our recent paper led by Kirill Sukhoverkov based on linezolid as a herbicide got selected for the current cover of RSC Chemical Biology out today pubs.rsc.org/en/journals/jo…
