Bit on the Rachel Cohen reissue

Halfway through Suttree, it's easy now to not notice Joyce and Faulkner and read it as great Cormac. Maybe this is post-Bloom clarity and influence is worthless insight. Odd that nobody since Davenport in 1979 has said anything interesting about it.

He recorded two of my favorites from the 90s, both great all the way through

Good short pieces on Nostromo (new £94 edition) and Arlen's Green Hat in the TLS.

Book #32 of 2024. Perhaps my 3rd or 4th re-read. Gets better with age. (Mine, I suppose.) Struck that the homoeroticism/homosexuality almost entirely suppressed. Europe in the ‘50s. God, what a time for an American with just a bit of money.
