I'm not eligible for another month and a half (since my initial vaccinations were so late) but really happy to see NMS doing boosters on the roadside on a fairly busy pedestrian route today

(why this was impossible before remains a mystery)

We should not let governments that failed to even count their dead off the hook

There’s a COVID Vaccination acceleration drive going on in Nairobi other counties for the next 2-3 months.

Teams of healthcare workers have set up tents at bus stops, markets etc; and, they also visit churches.

I don't know why we have been relatively lucky in Kenya so far, but I'm finally due for my booster, and I'm going to get it this week 💪🏾💉

the problem isn't vaccine apartheid, expiry dates or big pharma

we've had a surplus of 10m vaccines in Kenya for maybe six months

the problem is local: low demand and logistics

as Kenyans we never mobilised in a big way to do the work we needed to at home, in our communities

temperature screening was always a useless measure, but I haven't been asked for proof of vaccination once

we have been lucky
nobody really knows why

I hope we don't see another more deadly wave, as I don't think we are well prepared or well protected
