One of the purposes of some modern Islamic studies academics is to undermine Islamic traditionism, and to pave the way for a more liberal, modern, way of practising the Islamic faith. In that respect, their goals align with that of modernist Muslim thinkers.

But college students !

We are being asked to be horrified and disgusted that people in this country are protesting this.

We are being told - by organizations, institutions, the news media, the Biden administration - that the real threat are those who stand & resist against this depravity.

To be blunter: I don't think the Jewish advocacy organizations are as interested in protecting actual Jewish students as they are in quashing anti-Zionist speech, even if the anti-Zionist speech comes from Jews themselves

I’m skeptical of people who hang on every inflammatory word of 19-year-old college students but are indifferent to members of Congress calling on people to run over protestors with cars or use nuclear weapons on civilians. There is a revealing inconsistency and imbalance here.
