Last night the first annual awards dinner for The Center for Integrity in News Reporting was held at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. The Center was founded by Walter Hussman, Jr., Eliza Gaines and Charles Overby to aide in restoring public trust in media.

Welcome to APA summer interns Adelade Zagari and Ellis Scott. Adelade will be entering her junior year at ASU in Jonesboro and Ellis will be entering her junior year at the U of A in Fayetteville. Both will be helping the association with media and marketing projects.

We are saddened to learn of the death of APA Past President Derwood Brett. A staunch proponent of community journalism, he made a point during his 1989 tenure as APA president to visit every member newspaper at least once. A full obituary will be in this week’s APW.
