If we don't master AI it will master us. That's right, us, whose lives are otherwise characterized by such exhilarating freedom and self-mastery. In fact there's even a possibility an AI could become your "boss," rubber stamp denials of healthcare in bulk, foreclose your home, or

anyway s/o to the savvy, who understand thats what truly at stake here is a cosmological battle of Man versus Machine, a Hegelian death struggle between impersonal AI and the irrepressible Human Spirit, and not IN ANY WAY a mystification of capital, a scheme to devalue labor &c

Romanticizing academic precarity as "grindset" is really despicable. People lucky enough to have stable employment need to acknowledge the sheer contingency and arbitrariness of the job market that put them where they are. Telling someone that their hunger is good for them? GTFO

Some recent releases I’ve been listening to that I’ve found to be really excellent, Part III: Nomi Epstein performed by @rkcrlsn & Greg Stuart on Sawyer Editions (this one is particularly arresting) sawyereditions.bandcamp.com/album/cubes

I think we were all bracing for this news when the site was bought out, but it hurts all the same to see it happen. The staff at @bandcamp were advocates for the undersung, under-recognized and odd. They poured light onto dark corners. I fear for the future of this community.

The neoliberal university captured in a single photo. Individual empowerment discourse, pabulum about community ("our Texas"), and the coercive apparatus of the state.

Monday morning in Columbia and the Congaree River is just inches shy of the 2015 flood record. Residents in low lying areas have been evacuated. Many in the region are still without power. Hurricane Helene continues to impact inland areas.
