Perhaps the oldest continuous process of architectural restoration, the two sides of the Jingu Shrine in Mei Prefecture, Japan are rebuilt one after the other in an epic cyclical ritual every twenty years which began in 690AD

When does an act of repair transform a building into new architecture? Here in Lavrio a steel exoskeleton and roof were added to a crumbling stone building to protect the structure from collapse. An act of temporary preservation or a radical reimagining? instagram.com

Lush day of crits at Kingston uni for Thom Brisco and Aoife Donnelly with flying visit from Andrew Clancy too. Having had to turn down pretty much every crit invite while CEO of Open City, it feels so good to be able to spend proper time in architecture schools again. 💛

When installing an extractor duct, contractors accidentally shattered a pane of glass. Rather than replace the pane, staff laser cut this acrylic explosive shape and used it to conceal cracks where they glued the glass back together. instagram.com/p/C6GOevRNTct

But we must cut benefits, and chase carers who have received slightly too much. I'm amazed those that resent those poor souls who get here being given any support are the same 'cheering' spending £1.8m on each. What have we become?

A groteque detail – the Rwanda deportations will cost £1.8m for each of the deportees. And they try to tell us this policy is because Britiain is too poor to grant asylum to those fleeing persecution.

Architect and educator Elliot Nash has been repairing the same pair of slippers for years. Building on the work of Celia Pym, Nash adds new layers of darning in a different coloured thread each time his slippers develop holes. instagram.com/p/C6Di6GfsY73

It is the nature of living in a place with high inequality that there are really poor people who struggle and really rich people who benefit from inherited wealth, yes.

Sometimes I find a wikipeida page for someone of medium-low-fame and look up who edited their page to find that it was always entirely created by a single anonymous wikipedia user who has made zero changes to any other pages ever and has since deleted their profile 🤔🤔🤔
