There’s a reason the Scottish Conservatives leader is so universally unpopular. And here’s an insight.

He’s leading his party into angry oblivion.

It takes some chutzpah for ‘Lord’ Frost - the world’s worst negotiator - & the man who delivered #BrexitChaos to accuse anyone else of being shambolic.

And he seems to have a disturbingly uninformed idea of the basis of this voluntary union & the “small part” that is Scotland.

Humza could not have been more gracious in his resignation. He’s a fine public servant in our party’s and country’s best traditions. And his refusal to kowtow to save his job was noble. He’ll be remembered for his leadership on liberal law reform, child poverty and Gaza.

What a graceless and even ugly response to today's events. It's as if this current crop of Scottish Conservatives can't turn off even for a moment.

Humza Yousaf has served Scotland with integrity, compassion and commitment.

The challenges he has faced have been huge, yet at every turn he has led from the front.

There can be no doubt that he has now laid the groundwork required to take our country forward.
