I was fortunate enough to review 'Bird is Dead' by Tiny Fisscher, Herma Starreveld and translated by Laura Watkinson whose name should definitely be on the front as it's brilliant work - look here :)
Thank you Greystone Kids - big questions for small people.
I have one more tale left in this collection of seven beautifully reimagined fairy tales. The writing gets the biggest chef's kiss from me. Have you read it? Which is your favourite? Pushkin Children's Books #AnnetSchaap @laura_wat

Just finished Movies Showing Nowhere by Yorick Goldewijk (illustrated by Yvonne Lacet and translated by Laura Watkinson). It's definitely one of my favourite books of the year so far. Quiet, thoughtful and full of wisdom. There will be children in Year 5/6 who absolutely love it.
📖📽️ Our latest #BookoftheWeek is Movies Showing Nowhere by Yorick Goldewijk, a powerful book about memory and time travel translated by Laura Watkinson. We also have five books inspired by the weather and an interview with author Miriam Halahmy.
Pushkin Children's Books Green Bean Books
Movies Showing Nowhere is a powerful story of family, loss & the memories that make us. There's no doubt this will be one of my top books of '24- reminiscent of October, October in voice and vulnerability.

Gothic, fantasy-tinged historical fiction, delving back into the teenage years of Mary Shelley to find the inspiration for Frankenstein:
Mary; or, the Birth of Frankenstein by Anne Eekhout, translated by Laura Watkinson
Finally! Some #translated #WorldKidLit on the shelves in 🇬🇧Annet Schaap has rewritten 7 fairytales for today's world. No guesses what 'Wolf' is a retelling of, but how about 'Biscuits'? Or 'Blue'? Short yet compelling stories, perfect to #ReadAloud - translated by Laura Watkinson

Thrilled that my narration of Anne Eekhout's The Birth Of Frankenstein has received an AudioFile Magazine Earphones Award. I loved this book & its sumptuous prose, beautifully realised in Laura Watkinson's translation. A pleasure to get to speak words like these aloud. Thanks HarperAudio!
