I circle around god... Joanna Macy will be 95 tomorrow. This is such a brilliant Rilke poem.

Old age: a loss of appetite; poor sleep; struggling for breath; a loss of memory. It's what makes us human; and yet, I find myself at peace with it all. In fact, the last thing I'd want to do is to wage war with the demons of youth.

Jay Ramsay's book 'The Dangerous Book: The Bible As You've Never Seen It' is staggering in its enormity and brilliance. Even if you're not religious or a Christian, the way the book develops the story is immense. I keep asking myself how I missed his work.

I love the idea of spiritual activism. Mine though would be bleak, wrought with grief and on a knife edge between this world and the next.

No one believes me when I say 'work' is the last thing we want to do. But come on, if it wasn't for the moral order/the money, surely we'd come up with a better way to live out our days.

I can't help feel that it's too late to embrace nature (I've lost count of the number of books that have been published in the last few years). I'd love to know who the target audience is because the government and the mega corporation/s doesn't/don't appear to be listening.

Why is there so little art, artistry or poetry in our work - the employee/employer type? It's all so flat and almost dead or at least where art (and that can be the love of art) finds no voice.
