The Venice Commission has published its opinion on the draft Act on the National Council for Judiciary in Poland.
Unsurprisingly, the VC finds that the proposed model of selecting judges-members of the NCJ by other judges (not politicians) conforms to European law standards.

It is worthwhile to point out the consequences of the letter. ironically it creates pressure to indict someone to prove your independence. Fortunately the icc prosecutor is thoroughly professional and will neither try to indict, nor fail to indict because of pressure alone.
