'All I was thinking was if I lose this right now I'm going to look like a right muppet' 😂
What Emma Raducanu was thinking after celebrating a little early in her win at the Billie Jean King Cup
Today's win is Emma Raducanu's 6th best ever by ranking, her best ever win by ranking on clay (indeed on any surface other than hard), the best of her two singles wins so far in #BillieJeanKingCup and without doubt one of the very best of her career given the circumstances :-)
#BillieJeanKingCup : Fabulous, quite astonishing win for Emma Raducanu, coming from a set and a break down to defeat former world no. 4 Caroline Garcia FRA WR 23 (CH 4 in 2018), currently 279 places above her, 3-6 6-3 6-2 :-) It's FRA 1 GBR 1 after day 1!
#BillieJeanKingCup : From a set and 0-2 down, Emma Raducanu wins 5 games in a row against Caroline Garcia FRA and ends up taking her to a decider! :-) - 3-6 6-3
#BillieJeanKingCup :
Diane Parry FRA WR 49 (=CH) had previously lost 4/4 sets to Katie Boulter but after going 0-2 down in the 1st, reeled off 12 in a row to win 2&0 :-(
A big blow (seemed the most likely GB win), Parry must've improved hugely since last year/massively prefer clay
