Another poetry acceptance. I'm moved and grateful every time, but who was it who wrote the epigraph 'If you're my family please don't read this'?

I read this and was stunned by the author's honesty and the powerful visual writing. I can still see scenes and places in my head, months later. No easy sugar coating either, of a terrible illness and a complex relationship. Loved it.

So today The Hooghly Review (Issue 3 out now!) issue 3 came out, and ๅ…”ๅ…’็ฅž posted a saucy riposte to annoying queries from students' parents, and Diane Seuss shared two lovelies. The world is grim, but it almost feels like party time for poets.

My dearest new Ukrainian friend is a lawyer (and superb baker) from Odessa. She will have trained in this building. I know she's sitting a mile away from me today, surrounded by quiet english fields, and her heart is breaking. And she's one of so many.

An actual picture of the actual animals, two by two. Such generosity for one small poem! Thank you again to all at The Hooghly Review (Issue 3 drops today), and do read this journal - it's a keeper.

All praise to the lovely, lovely editors of The Hooghly Review (Issue 3 out now!) for this gorgeous, jam-packed edition from all corners of the cornerless globe. (And yes a poem of mine is tucked in bed on page 374.) thehooghlyreview.com/issues/issue-3โ€ฆ

I saw the relief and excitement for both patients and researchers (and neurologists) when this gene was identified. How cruel to remove newfound hope. theguardian.com/society/2024/aโ€ฆ

I saw this and it was EXACTLY like this growing up in Australia (probably still is), right down to the man getting all the praise for how well he cooked the meat. I used to find these strict gender roles infuriating and I remember my French bf telling me how weird it all was.

What a wonderful way to start a week - thank you so much Carina Beresford! All praise is due to Hoopoe for taking such a big chance on this unknown author and being so lovely and wise throughout.

Absolutely the government could sort this out, and help those caught unawares - and doing so would be far cheaper in the long run than leaving carers (and their relatives) exhausted, indebted, or homeless. theguardian.com/society/2024/aโ€ฆ

I'm beyond proud that my last business contract was to write a case for support for this institute and its remarkable leaders and staff. It's a long haul, curing Parkinson's. Thanks to them for hanging in there.

If you wanted to read a poem about being told not to ever split an infinitive - you'll be able to soon. What a wonderful Sunday evening gift to be able to share this. Dev Bodepudi ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ธ I see you there! And so many others to read and discover... very proud, very happy.

And it's opening this very night - so if you have young children and live anywhere near Newbury.... (UK not Massachusetts).
