Kent Police Specials (UK) UK Specials Survey Cheshire Specials Made it a priority in my area. We plan, staff and manage our own operations. We even have an umbrella Op Order under the banner of #OpAmplify empowering local sections to run things their way.

UK Specials Survey Cheshire Specials We have run them routinely in Kent for over a decade - the monthly all-out days are known as Op Flame. The operational impact is immense. The benefit to SCs are set out in our Chief Officer’s 2014 Churchill Fellowship report.

Nick But specials are not like regulars. To keep committed and motivated they need support at times when the team are on rest days. They will often want to work when the team are on rest days, say Friday and Saturday nights.
They also need a career path, not a permanent probationer.

CO Leon Boland UK Specials Survey Cheshire Specials Exactly. Mix of shifts, mix of events, mix of CPD, mix of experiences. That’s key to retaining staff. More than just fetes or lates on a Friday on foot.

Each van and the command car had an emergency response trained driver and at least one taser trained officer, utilising our new skills to get to incidents promptly. 🚨

These officers worked across four van serials led by a volunteer Inspector and Sergeant and in addition we had a force command car with our Chief Officer and Chief Inspector.

Last night 24 of our volunteer officers led by our Chief Officer provided additional resilience support across the county responding to emergency and priority incidents! 👏🏼

UK Specials Survey Cheshire Specials Durham Special Constabulary Being transparent we are really taking a quality not quantity approach. We deliver the same/ more hours now with 150-170 officers than we did when we had close to 300 a few years ago. So our plan is clearly working and we can then focus on adding value/ upskilling!

Cheshire Specials and Durham Special Constabulary are improving massively, but both in different ways.

Cheshire is upskilling their existimg cohort and carefully adding smaller numbers of officers. Durham is rebuilding nunbers from a higher trained baseline.
