I 100% agree with this for public transit or passenger rail anywhere in the world. Don’t cover windows with advertising wraps. Period.

Repost if you agree.

Tolled private roads, 1830. The railways crashed intercity road travel and by the end of the C19 all the road companies were bankrupt. If they had survived a few years longer until cars arrived, Britain might perhaps have intercity road pricing today.

Wraps which obscure the views of the customers or the riders completely degrade the experience of riding on the train. Eighty percent of what makes the train wonderful is staring out the window. Seriously, there should be a law banning these.

BBC News absolutely smashing it yet again, Bernard Hill was a phenomenal actor but I'm fairly certain he didn't win 11 Oscars, absolutely basic stuff

you can still keep the grid!

but you can't prioritize space for cars and pretend this is going to offer a high quality of life, or be future-proofed.

a better way is possible.

1969 Crimson editorial argued it’s not good enough to support the withdrawal of American troops, you need to actively support Communist victory even while acknowledging that taking this stand makes it harder to win the political argument.

'What are the grammatical rules that allow me to communicate something in that visual language?'

Every aesthetic is defined by a design language. And every language has its unique set of grammatical rules. How you dress punk is different from how you dress Ivy.

This life experience of mine is the reason I do believe in the possibility of progress but also of regress, and I consider any Western ideology that believes in laws or inevitability of progress to be nothing but the lies of of empty minds and shallow souls.

A) she’s doing a great job
B) if you think this is weird, then you got an issue with Balinese culture, and that’s your problem
C) independent of all that, almost everyone in a culture (except twitter weirdos and a minority of academics) love it when outsiders try to fit in.…

Calgary refutes every US stereotype about what a high transit city looks like. It's sprawling. It's culturally associated with cowboys and oil drilling. To help its SUV drivers feel they are in touch with nature, its freeways are called trails. And yet ...

Mrs. Thatcher sending the fleet to duff-up the Argentine junta on the Falklands destroyed them politically and the regime quickly fell. Afterwards, lots congratulated the Lady, most bizarrely the El Salvador insurgent group, the Revolutionary Democratic Front (FDR).

A 3-D map of Israeli political views from the 2015 INES, broken out by demographic:

Highlights:
1) In stark contrast to most countries, Israeli politics is truly multi-dimensional
