This is a potentially lethal moment in the Middle East. Vital to prevent a regional war, which can only benefit extremists in the region, and damage Biden at home.

“Are Angela Rayner's troubles a sign of what's to come for Labour?” asks Laura Kuenssberg.

If she means the incessant hounding of the right-wing press, who ignore the constant stench of corruption emanating from the Tories, then the answer is yes.

It’s so much fun to spend the year keeping everyone breathlessly speculating about an election instead of simply governing.

This utterly appalling.
Last night I was honoured to attend installation of Ghassan Abu Sitta as Rector of University of Glasgow.
Yet today he is silenced and expelled from to prevent him bearing witness to his horrific experiences as a surgeon in !

I couldn’t agree more. This is of course a temptation when taking over a partly damaged democratic system. But the worst idea ever is to use that in one’s own interest. It destroys everything you’ve been standing up against before.

Respectfully, I wholly disagree with John McTernan.

The Tories have shovelled power into the hands of the executive, which Labour *could* use for its own purposes. But in so doing, it would entrench & legitimise that power.

The ring must be destroyed. Its power can only corrupt

Does German police, do German authorities understand, what this sentence does to the image of Germany in the world? Germany is globally not only associated with the Holocaust, but also with totalitarian illiberalism. They might show they have learned from one, but not the other

The law is making an ass of itself in prosecuting a 69 year old climate change protestor for holding a placard telling juries what their rights are. My column

The back channel work done by Labour figures here shows how by delaying the election as far as possible and giving Starmer time to consult on planning the Sunak government is doing Labour a favour

I mean, you can shoot yourself in the foot, shit happens. But to then ignore it and looking away instead of at least trying to repair the damage is simply mad.
A whole country going Lalaland.
And where is Labour in all of this ?
