Hereโ€™s an example of why itโ€™s easy for proponents of foreigners coming to the UK to get wrong footed as anti-British And itโ€™s an argument thatโ€™s hard to win with some xenophobes. Better to talk about FOM in terms of emigration & opportunity for British rather than immigration

Niall ร“ Conghaile ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Ian Hobart It might well be a long term political aspiration for Bxl but that's a very different thing from being 'indispensable'. Gaining consensus on that will be challenging given EEA, CH and existing opt outs.

Niall ร“ Conghaile ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Ian Hobart Itโ€™s much easier to understand the โ‚ฌ as a political symbol for the EU. Therefore universality seems logical but not everyone agrees in the EU. Not everyone uses the โ‚ฌ in the SM. Itโ€™s not indispensable to its operation. Trying to make it so is going to be challenging.

"...we need to ditch the idea that this can all be fixed with the UK joining something like the Customs Union, Single Market, or the EU since all of these will be difficult and lengthy negotiations..." David Henig It is likely that it takes more time and effort to improve... 1/

Niall ร“ Conghaile ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ Rob Fitzgerald Ian Hobart I'd love the UK to take the โ‚ฌ on that basis, but it's trivial s*** compared to regulatory standards, tariffs, cross border checks etc. If Norway can trade in the world market for oil in dollars perfectly well, then why does it need to adopt the โ‚ฌ?
