Another (very Christmassy) image from our new FIB-SEM machine at Octopus. The snowman is about 20 microns tall and the snowflakes are 2.5 microns in diameter with a line width of around 150 nanometres ☃️🔬 For comparison, a red blood cell is around 7-8 microns across!🤯

Merry Christmas from #CLFoctopus! I have recently used the CrossBeam to image polymer nanoparticles from BioCyto. It is hoped that the nanoparticles will deliver antivirals across the blood-brain barrier for the treatment of covid-19. These nanoparticles look especially festive!

Hi GWR Are there plans to increase the number of services between Didcot and Oxford back up to pre-lockdown level? It hasn't been possible to socially-distance on any of the trains I have taken so far this week. One service per hour isn't enough for the increased footfall!

Exactly 1 year since joining the wonderful lab of Stephan Uphoff, automated single molecule tracking experiments are running on the microscope 🙌✨ My Python code will be shared on GitHub shortly for those interested... hopefully some cool experiments will follow too! 🔬👩‍🔬
