Independent Senator Alice-Mary Higgins says Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is being "disingenuous". She said he already has discretionary powers to inspect planes and "needs to use those powers immediately."

This is disingenuous. The Minister already has the power to order inspections under Article 8 of the 1973 and 1989 regulations and he needs to use those powers immediately.

Excellent intervention by Alice-Mary Higgins raising concerns over ‘Exempted development’ in the Planning and Development Bill that would allow a class of developments to sidestep the planning process. Runs the risk of being abused and is in contravention of the Aarhus Convention.
