The notion of reviving Iran as a Zoroastrian nation reminds me of the the idea of stripping Europe of its Christian historical heritage and trying to revive a supposedly more glorious pagan past.

It’s his advocacy on Palestine that resonates more than anything, plus that he was seen as right about invasion of Iraq. Other positions like his support for the Syrian government would have probably earned him some ire from constituencies he appeals to 10 years ago, now less so.

My first complete Bibles were English translations I acquired. The Good News Bible and then the King James Version (KJV). I principally got interested in KJV because of atheist Richard Dawkins (yes) and a staunchly Protestant piano teacher.

Bottom line, I recommend Bible reading whether or not you are a believer. It is even more fun to do so in multiple languages. I also consider the monstrous Alberto Miguel Fernandez to have been an influence on me in this regard.
