Foden is a perfectly deserving winner but struggling to remember a year with such a range of potential candidates with no real stand out.

This is spot on. Also particularly true when no English teams are playing and so nobody particularly cares who wins or loses, no post-mortem on subjective decisions, no week long media focus on the fall out.

Does anyone actually think RM’s “game plan” is to cede possession, allow the opposition the majority of shots and to nick a goal? There’s a big difference between having the confidence to weather a storm and it actually being your plan.

Real pet hate is the way individual goals are seen as “winning” points. It’s extremely rare in football for goals to not matter or at least give your a chance to claim a point. Unless a side are 3/4 goals up, a goal could be crucial.
