18 May 1924, 4th Earl of Bandon James Bernard dies. Despite regarded as a good landlord, his home at Castle Bernard burned to the ground on 21st June 1921, and the Earl kidnapped. Opened the new Bandon Orange Hall in 1872, and was County Grand Master of Cork Orangemen
