This was a lovely, sad reunion.

At the #JournalistsForJournalists vigil in Vancouver tonight, we honoured colleagues killed in Gaza, Lebanon and Israel. It was heartening and anxiety-relieving to be in a space where I felt safe as a journalist to grieve and express anger. Respect to the organizers. #cdnmedia

One thing the federal government could do, and it wouldn't be hard, is to renew the Local Journalism Initiative which funds actual journalism jobs.

Young journalists are facing a lot of uncertainty about whether this funding will be renewed or not.

My job at The Tyee is funded by the LJI. I don't know if the federal gov is renewing the program or if I'm out of a job by the end of next month. I'd love to see the program continued BUT HEY I'm biased as hell here. But yeah it'd be nice to see BC support here too

This is my last week at The Tyee, and just typing that made me sad.

What a joy to work with such wonderful colleagues at such a great newsroom.

I'm staying in journalism, and in Vancouver, and I'm very excited for what comes next.
