The #ThermalDome is huge! Up to 1 million km2. 53% is located in the #highseas , while 47% extends between the jurisdictional waters of Guatemala🇬🇹, Nicaragua🇳🇮, Mexico🇲🇽, El Salvador🇸🇻 and Costa Rica🇨🇷.

3⃣ The #ThermalDome is very important for marine biodiversity! Thanks to the high concentration of nutrients, the Dome is a feeding, breeding and migration site for a large number of species such as whales🐳, dolphins🐬, sharks🦈 and rays.

2⃣ The #ThermalDome , an ally in the face of #climatechange . The high concentration of nutrients in the Thermal Dome area favors the growth of microalgae, which help fix carbon as part of the photosynthesis process, thus buffering the effects of climate change.
