Happening now! The Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology, in partnership with the University of Reading, Ministry of Agriculture and the Hydrometeorological Service of Guyana is holding a PICSA training workshop for agriculture stakeholders in Guyana.

During Step B of the PICSA approach, workshop participants analyzed historical climate information to determine trends in rainfall and temperature, identified incidences of climate variability and climate change.

Building on Steps A and B of the PICSA approach, during day 2 of the training workshop in Georgetown, Guyana participants utilized graphs to calculate probabilities of weather and climate, using this information to make informed decisions for upcoming months and future seasons.

Tanya Mohabir, Meteorologist, Hydrometeorological Service of Guyana, and Lisa Kirton-Reid, Technical Officer, CIMH, delivered presentations on the Seasonal Forecast for Guyana and the region, respectively.

During day 4 of the Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (PICSA) training workshop in Guyana participants took part in a field day where they worked with over 25 farmers in Onverwagt, West Coast Berbice, practicing the PICSA approach.

Today, the Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (PICSA) training workshop in Georgetown Guyana concluded with a Closing Ceremony during which 31 participants were presented with certificates of completion! 👏👏👏
