I was born a Black woman
and now
I am become a Palestinian
against the relentless laughter of evil
there is less and less living room
and where are my loved ones?

It is time to make our way home.

—June Jordan, 'Moving Towards Home'

Some tenured faculty members at Brown University are being threatened with vague disciplinary action after having visited the encampments. They received this email from the Dean of Faculty. I’ve confirmed at least 2, but there are at least 2 more I am hearing about beyond that.

I’m so inspired by the student movement and so disappointed by the retaliation from institutions of higher education.

Friends, because the genocide is ongoing, & because so many poets have been censored & penalized for speaking out, I am going to host another poetry event for Palestine in a virtual setting in May or June (depends on availability). If you want to join us, write / DM here soon 💙

They are killing poets and the children of poets and the grandchildren of poets.

As if to say there shall be no more poetry in all the land!

Maybe if university administrators stopped cutting the humanities and social sciences and read a fucking book, they would understand the dialectic between repression and resistance better and know that they’re sowing the seeds of their own demise with these shows of brute force.

Heartbroken beyond words. Now, Israel has killed Refaat Al-Areer's eldest daughter, Al-Shaimaa, her husband, and newborn. No words can convey this endless loss and pain. For days now I stood on stages saying 'they are killing our poets, but they can't kill their words'

As of now, the Northwestern Liberated Zone has been thriving for 48 hours—Day 3 of our Gaza Solidarity Camp begins! It's sunny, it's going to be a beautiful day, and I will be speaking in center camp at 1 PM. If you're in Chicagoland, please come thru!
