If X was a newspaper Elon would be on the front page and in 90% of the paper’s articles—most of which would be sourced only to—and written by—him. And the rest of the articles would be produced by anonymous non-professionals who are paid based on how much their stories favor Elon

You’re pretending the worlds richest man “saved free speech” (a constitutional right he has no control over) while he is charging you for it. You’re doing this because he says stupid things you agree with that you think were censored because during a pandemic the government tried…

How many Community Notes do you see a day on X? You really think it’s cause everything else you see is accurate? Of course not. Notes is the exception that proves the rule. They’re a tiny island of sand in an ocean of propaganda and disinformation and lies and conspiracy theories

X is built like an inverted pyramid of rightwing propaganda where Elon’s pharaoh and his bros kiss his butt and share his worldview and he drives traffic to them and pays them through ad-revenue share but only because “there’s a leftwing media conspiracy to control the narrative”

Twitter’s Elon’s World. He paid $44 billion to dominate your attention and determine what you see. He knows he can manipulate his personal platform to be in a position powerful enough to crown kings, pick presidents and help produce whatever personal or political outcome he wants

Part of what social media and X in particular does is destroy people’s ability to put things into proper context.
Elon didn’t buy twitter to “save free speech” for instance. That’s a constitutional right. He’s selling a narrative of himself in relation to events playing that part

Luke Zaleski First, big thumbs-up that Metallica sucks. Never have they not sucked. People say, oh, that’s coz you don’t like hard music. No, just not that lame-ass band… My submission: Dave Matthews. Simply cannot abide… Can’t even be in a room where that shit’s playing

MURMUR was released in the US on this day in 1983. In the book Remarks, Peter said: 'When the album was finished I remember thinking, 'God, I can't wait until everyone hears this' Because it was so different... it didn't sound like anything else that was coming out.'
