Police are not the answer to mental health crises. When someone calls 911 for help, they should be first met by support from trained mental health professionals, not officers armed with deadly weapons.

We must remove cops from mental health emergencies:

The tragic loss of Winzinzent is unfortunately not uncommon. Four years ago, Rochester police killed Daniel Prude when he was in crisis.

Police are too often sent as first responders to mental health crises, even when they lack the proper training.

Winzinzent Rozaro was 19 years old. He reportedly called 911 for help. Instead, police officers - who were not mental health professionals - killed him while he was in a mental health crisis.

Reaching out for support should not have fatal consequences.
