Rory Stewart got subverted by civil servants and was unable to get much done in cabinet roles he held. His London mayoral campaign flopped. Clearly incompetent, he’s also idealistic, Why do moderates appreciate him so much, there’s clearly more effective moderate tories.

Progress does not come out of a vacuum but is grounded in the precedent of the past. Conservatism should reject the progressive and the reactionary, and embrace progress on the basis of tradition, the most viable way to preserve both.
