Today, I want to share a message with my powerful Afghan sisters. You are fighting back against the Taliban’s crimes, as they ban you from going to school and try to erase you from public life. You continue resisting. Your courage is a source of inspiration.

The menhir of Bissin in Guérande (Loire-Atlantique), also known as Le Caillou de Gargantua, is slab-like measuring 2m wide at the base of the broad sides but less than a metre thick. It stands 3.5m tall. This card by Chapeau from before 1909 shows one of the narrow faces.

Piglet said they were just trying to think of a way to get the bounces out of Tigger, because however much you liked him, you couldn’t deny it, he DID bounce. “There’s too much of him,” said Rabbit, “that’s what it comes to.” ~A.A.Milne #wednesdaythought

Sightseeing scallops? 👀 Yes indeed! Scallops can have up to 200 small eyes. Interestingly, the number of eyes that a scallop species has is actually correlated to how much it moves around the ocean, with higher mobility species sporting more eyes than more stationary ones!

The stream had grown up, so that it was almost a river, and, being grown-up, it did not run and jump and sparkle along as it used to, but moved more slowly. For it knew now where it was going, and said to itself, “There is no hurry. We shall get there some day.” ~A.A.Milne

The dolmen of Bouéry in Mailhac-sur-Benaize (Haute-Vienne) has a roughly circular capstone 4m in diameter with a slightly domed upper surface with 40 cupules pecked into it: hence an early description of it being like a giant tortoise shell.

Spotted the supermoon this week? 🌕 It’s causing extra high spring tides, with some reaching 13.5 metres! Remember, tide times and heights vary daily—what was clear yesterday may be covered today. Always check tide times before heading out and stay aware of your surroundings.
