The Mets placed Brooks Raley on the 15-Day IL with left elbow inflammation (replaced with Grant Hartwig). Raley has been an important part of the success behind the Mets’ bullpen.

Torn ligament for Alvarez. Will require surgery. No timetable for a return, but confidence he’ll be back this season.

Huge blow.

Reed Garrett continues to excel.

Mets prospect Calvin Ziegler will have Tommy John surgery, sources confirmed (Mike Mayer relayed first). Ziegler made our breakout list and I’m sure he was on others.

On why Tyrone Taylor has a deeper perspective when he talks about making the most of opportunities + how his experience playing in other crowded outfields under Stearns may be helping him now with the Mets: theathletic.com/5424172/2024/0…

Mets 9, Pirates 1: For the first time this season, the Mets have swept a series. They’ve won four straight. Severino tossed six innings and lowered his ERA to 2.14. Marte and Bader hit home runs. Taylor had three hits. New York is 10-8.

The early reports on Brett Baty are encouraging and the Mets feel good about the chances he avoids the IL, Carlos Mendoza said.

In recent years, the Mets have needed pitching development wins.

And as good as the Mets’ bullpen has looked in 2024, it needs a breakout or two.

At 8-8 after 0-5, we’re quickly learning about Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.

One early takeaway? He’s shown feel for situations, for his players and with decisions: theathletic.com/5418547/2024/0…

Mets 6, Pirates 3: After the 0-5 start, the Mets have rallied to .500. An eventful 8th inning included a great AB by Stewart, a double steal and Bader coming through with a two-run double to give the Mets the lead. The backend of the bullpen continues to impress. New York is 8-8.
