Totally chuffed to get a new plant #altitudinal #record , my first for 2024! We found this patch of Petty Whin (Genista anglica) at a record-breaking 737m above sea level on Morven, in #Deeside . The #montane #botany season is now well underway! 🤩🥳

I'm repeat #monitoring my upland tree #regeneration transects at #Corrour , as part of our Ecosystem Health Indicators. I don't need to run statistical tests to know there's a huge increase in tree height over four years in the plots I've done so far. It's just so obvious! 🤗🥳🌳

The synergy between beavers and the aspen tree reminds us that nature recovery can't be achieved one species at a time. Discover how these two native species could complement one another's comeback: scotlandbigpicture.com/photo-stories/…

Thank you to Helen and James at National Trust for Scotland Killin for a great visit to Lynedoch to learn about the conservation of plants and trees at Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve. 🌲🌳🌱🌿 #KPSEco Keep Scotland Beautiful #SDG13 #SDG15
Not only do they plant trees in extreme & remote locations, but TreeSurv have also recorded new populations of montane trees at #Corrour . Downy Willow (Salix lapponum) & Downy Birch (Betula pubescens) found at 650m altitude! 📷 by Nicholas Major

We’re delighted to be part of this - #LochArkaig Pine Forest is bang in the midst of this important area for #NatureRestoration
We have a strong population of Petty Whin (Genista anglica) at #Corrour ; a member of the Pea Family which is common in our #upland grasslands & heaths near #LochOssian . This #shrub has dramatically declined in many lowland regions since the 1960s. #WildflowerHour #carrotsandpeas
Lunch & local bookshop shopping at The Watermill Aberfeldy Watermill - feeling so fortunate that the kids enjoy these nutritious veggie meals & reading more & more books! 🤗🥰📚

SCOTLAND: The Big Picture
I’m so very excited about Loch Abar Mòr, a new #landscape -scale nature #restoration partnership of which #Corrour is a founding partner! We’re full of hope for the future of our region for Community, Connectivity & Climate. #NatureRichLochaber
It’s the very best time of year to see the tree #regeneration at #Corrour - an exciting flush of young green shoots against the darker heather backdrop! 🤗🤩 #NatureRecovery #restoration
How wonderful!! The first ever seed has been produced from our #montane #willow seed stand at #Corrour ! I expect to see much, much more of this in the years to come, from which to upscale production of this scarce species for habitat #restoration projects. #DownyWillowSeedStand
Yesterday we hosted the NatureScot Protected Areas Innovation & Data Activity team at #Corrour . Absolutely fantastic weather offered the opportunity to enjoy a tour of Corrour Forest, our #peatland #restoration Peatland ACTION, & a walk through woodland #regeneration . 🌳🌤️
