SCURVY GRASS is a plant found on our saltmarsh. Its high vitamin C content meant it helped to prevent scurvy which is where it gets its common name. It is very bitter and actually not a grass at all but a relative of cabbage!

A lovely warty toad for your viewing pleasure today
This is a common toad and is one of only two species we have in the Scotland, the other being the natterjack toad. Did you know common toads return to the same breeding ponds each spring?

PETRICHOR is the word for that pleasant scent when it finally rains after a long dry spell. I wonder if anyone has worked out how to bottle it?

We particularly love seeing roe deer at this time of year when they are frolicking in the spring sun! Meg, one of our placement students caught this velvet-antlered stag and little doe out on her rounds last week.

It's there and then gone! What was it?
A little weasel came to visit us outside the visitor centre last week. We loved watching it dash about.
