As #16DaysofAction draws to a close, VSS will continue to support domestic abuse victims emotionally and practically. We support all victims of domestic abuse, in court and in their communities.

The Disclosure Scheme for Domestic Abuse Scotland gives people the right to ask about thetheir partner's background. It also allows concerned relatives and friends the right to ask about someone’s partner.

Two of our Support Co-Ordinators attended EIS_SouthLanarkshireCollege yesterday to promote VSS services during the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
We spoke to lots of students about the service and received several referrals.

Improving support for victims and survivors of crime is a priority for Scottish Government.
During #16DaysOfActivism , Justice Secretary Angela Constance co-chaired the Victims Taskforce to hear about progress that has been made to improve victims’ experiences of the justice system.

We have concerns that the proposals in the Children (Care and Justice) (Scotland) Bill will negatively affect women and girls who are victims of domestic abuse where the perpetrator is under 18.

The VSS team in Aberdeen braved the cold on Saturday evening to take part in the Reclaim the Night march, raising awareness of violence against women and girls, and campaigning for safer streets in Aberdeen and Scotland.
