@SweetieBitters @velourcherry @Peytton @dimuhhx My most horrific experience with a GYN was with a female one. Granted that doesn't mean I feel that all female GYNs would give me the same experience but after searching for a long time to find a doctor to make me feel comfortable I would not change my male GYN for anything.
@LilianMaven @SweetieBitters @velourcherry @Peytton @dimuhhx Ok this got longer than intended, but I think it’s relevant. I refused to see a male gyn until I was 26 & had a dismissive woman gyn give me a D&C in her office. Besides the fact those aren’t office procedures, I also was not told beforehand. I went in for a hysteroscopy & that’s
@LilianMaven @SweetieBitters @velourcherry @Peytton @dimuhhx all. Ended up literally covering my mouth while I scream sobbed and she just kept saying “just a few more moments” & vomiting from pain. It was seriously traumatic & I didn’t go back to one for YEARS in my prime sexual health years out of so much fear. I eventually had to due to

Not only did he take new serious from the first appointment, he also was willing to try solutions but also run tests. So I went in for an endometrial ablation to stop the bleeding, but while they
@LilianMaven @SweetieBitters @velourcherry @Peytton @dimuhhx were doing so, he wanted some biopsies too.
The ablation didn’t work, but was worth it because my biopsy came back cancerous and he had me booked for a total hysterectomy within 2 weeks of getting the results back.
I 100% understand why one would be uncomfortable with a male
@LilianMaven @SweetieBitters @velourcherry @Peytton @dimuhhx gynecologist and that’s totally ok! But I sincerely feel harmed by 2 female gyns at this point because what would have happened had I not switched and had a dr willing to do a biopsy? He was honestly one the most kind, respectful, & validating doctor I’ve ever seen regardless of
