Under the stewardship of Dr. Jackson Orem the hospital's mandate is steadily coming into realization. Years ago the idea of Decentralizing Cancer Services was birthed. Through funding from the Government of Uganda and it's partners the future is bright.

Uganda Cancer Institute set to Construct a Regional Cancer Center in MBARARA amidst an outcry of increasing Cancer Cases. Mbarara University donated over 2 acres of land to house the Regional Centre.

Dr. Semei Sekitene, Head Mbarara Cancer center in his presentation informed us that they receive about 1,000 Cancer cases annually and 3,000 active cases. This is attributed to the continuous Cancer awareness in communities.
