It was a pleasure to participate in an Investing in Rural America roundtable with Sen. Debbie Stabenow & the Douglas Emhoff at Lincoln Park Middle School in Michigan to discuss Dept. of Agriculture's efforts to ensure that all students across the U.S. have access to healthy, nutritious school meals.
The #FoodSummit24 in McAllen, TX continued with a panel titled “Who Has Healthy Food?” which explored food access, consumption and health. Experts, including FNCS DUSEC Dean, discussed creative solutions to closing the fresh food access gap.
This morning, FNCS Deputy Under Secretary Stacy Dean provided opening remarks at the #FoodSummit24 in McAllen, TX. She shared the importance of Dept. of Agriculture and participants working together to accelerate progress in the equity space.
Parents & teachers had concerns about excessive amounts of added sugar in some foods, and Dept. of Agriculture listened.
