Heading back to New York after an impactful trip to Tokyo and Nagasaki. A few memories from the past few days.

Today, I sat down with students in Nagasaki who are already leading on the issue of non-proliferation. Their advocacy and determination give me so much hope.

A somber, moving visit to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum.

I am grateful to the people of Nagasaki for preserving the tragedies of the past, so that we can create a more peaceful world – together.

Today, in Nagasaki, I spoke about the need to reckon with the past – and hold out hope for a brighter future.

This city bears scars that may never heal. But we can, and must, work to ensure that Nagasaki is the last place ever to experience the horrors of nuclear weapons.

At the Peace Park in Nagasaki, I paid my respects to the victims of the atomic bombing on August 9, 1945.

Today, I am reminded of our responsibility – as governments, as allies, and as human beings – to end the scourge of war, once and for all.

Appreciated the chance to meet with Japanese Prime Minister 岸田文雄 to discuss our shared priorities as UN Security Council members – and our shared commitment to the global community.
