The notes will go into circulation on 5th June. This is the first time The Bank of England has changed the image of The Monarch on a banknote (Queen Elizabeth II became the first Monarch to appear on a Bank of England note in 1960).

This morning The King was presented with the first banknotes featuring his image during an Audience with Andrew Bailey, Governor of the @BankofEngland, and Sarah John, Chief Cashier and Executive Director of Banking.

Nafira Nayeem Ahmed and Shamim Ahmed Mridha received the UK Legacy Award for their contributions to social and climate actions in Bangladesh, among twenty other inspiring young activists from across the world.

The UK co-founded the 50 country strong media freedom coalition, which works to defend media freedom globally.

British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke hosted an Iftar for the media community in Dhaka.

'The UK remains committed to supporting free media in Bangladesh and we will continue to work closely with our media partners as we have always done,' she said.
