Omg, the quote tweets of this 😅

Yes people, I am a computational cognitive scientist and may have some expertise in “understanding”, I do not know, maybe because we study it and know it has no tractable computational characterization yet 😎

Does anybody have a chart of plant moisture vs. soil moisture? Checking how realistic is the assumption that this would be linear also when the soil is moist to wet. 🛰️🌱

John Kempf I see no reason why agroecologically intensified farming systems with less tillage, less fertilizer (higher NUE) and less pesticides (lower dosis, higher ROI) should not beat traditional system both profit wise and potentially also yield (sun conversion) wise.

New version with just the topography. Makes it easier to see where the lines representing irrigation ditches are probably a little off, creating an apparent mismatch with topography. But not bad, overall. Nice shading with

However, if we look a little deeper using isotopes, things get more interesting. When we compared the difference in 13C between POM and MAOM, we saw our conceptual definition (13C POM < 13C MAOM) started to break down when density fractionation wasn't used.

The blue lines are irrigation ditches, to show how the ditches drop less steeply than the stream they draw from, allowing irrigation of land 'below the ditch.' More broadly, to show how even small local irrigation systems alter the hydrology of the stream and the whole...

The most under-rated skill for any kind of mathematical modeler (including data scientist, statistician, etc.etc.)...? An intuitive *feel* for numbers and a love for *playing* with the math!
