We've delivered a £150m upgrade to the Hope Valley Railway, the first stage of vital work on the line.

🚆Faster, more reliable services between #Manchester and #Sheffield
♿️Improved accessibility at stations
⚡️Paving the way for electrification, as part of our Network North plan

Over the last 🔟 days, engineers have worked around the clock:

🚆 Installing new tracks
🏗️ Replacing a bridge deck
🕳️ Completing mining mitigations
⬇️ Re-grading embankments

🚆 Engineers are continuing to repair the railway after a Northern train derailed in Grange-over-Sands, two weeks ago.

It's hoped the work will be completed by the end of April. A bus replacement service is running between Barrow and Lancaster.

It was our pleasure to welcome Transport for the North to Teesport earlier this week showcasing the strengths of the infrastructure we have here on Teesside and the impact on the UK and global supply chain.
